Written about me by a friend.  I think she captured my heart well:

on the hill i met my new friend and sister, mari. with the city lights of pdx as her backdrop she spoke with courage and honesty. she shared her heart with me. she gave her raw and breakable parts a voice. she spoke of struggle, triumph and great inner growth. her energy was a mixture of three dear women in my life: kate, tamara and brandy. if you put these three ladies together you get an earthy mama queen of a woman with a certain charm and spunk that she will never loose. a vivacious and strong woman chasing after the heart of god and head over heals in love with jesus. this is mari. i appreciated her so much for being vulnerable and open with me. i appreciated her for taking a risk and trusting me with her heart. at one point, she was speaking in the vein of me finding my man, and she said ‘he needs to be one who can hold your heart well.’ i had never heard this expression before. but as soon as she said it, i saw it and i wanted it. i was grateful to hold her heart that night and so blessed that she was willing to hold mine. it was so tender to share space with another woman of great depth and drive and focus on the king. thank you jesus for slowly opening my heart again… so that i may love and be loved, for your glory. thank you for dear mari.

Oh, and “Something in the Way She Moves” by James Taylor is my aspiration.

Now I’m finding out that I really love to cook.  I could get lost in food blogs.   I’m a sucker for a good food and wine pairing and I love Oregon bounty.

  1. What a lovely, lovely description! This makes me want to crawl through my computer and hug you! And you friend! I look forward to checking out your site more and recipe-swapping!

  2. Hi, Mari,
Applause for you learning how to open your heart. Not as easy as it sounds. Another difficult thing to do is play air bass… unless you are actually a bass player, of course. And yet, sharing our heart’s passions and playing air bass can be so rewarding!
