My church is kinda big. Not like mega-church, thousands upon thousands upon thousands of people big. But it’s big enough that if you want to be anonymous, you easily can. Some people probably show up every week and are never seen or known. That’s why we have Home Communites (HC)–smaller groups of people who meet once a week at someone’s house and share a meal, talk about the sermon, pray together, and really get to know each other. That’s one of the many things I love about Imago.
Almost two years, I started going to the Grant Park HC and have fallen in love with the people every week since. My old roommate Crystal pointed out one Wednesday night when I came home that each week, I gush about these people. How can I not? Our monthly potlucks are outta sight tasty and creative, our singing and harmonizing just keeps getting better and will give you goosebumps, we can all laugh together, share our struggles and needs, invite each other over for dinner, go hiking together. None of us are anonymous. It’s beautiful, really. We’re all in different stages in life: married, single, parents, students, grandparents, children, retired, working 2 jobs, living in community, living alone, etc etc. But we all connect on a common ground and just plain love being around each other.
Okay, enough gushing. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the Grant Park HC:
